Here at HOPERA we are all about empowering local artists and craft businesses by putting on quality, casual performances where Houstonians love to drink. We collaborate with the local craft beverage community to create original concerts and operas that come to you! We believe that opera is for anyone, that there’s an opera for everyone, and that it’s our job to show Houston that opera doesn’t fit into a tiny stuffy box.
The Year We Were Founded
In the Fall of 2023, five friends came together with a few pints, snacks, and a great idea, and HOPERA was officially born!

Join us for a hypnotic and romantic evening of German music while you enjoy a refreshing brew.
Don’t sprechen ze Deutsch? Don’t worry! This Pint-Sized Performance will be narrated in English by the charismatic Noel Bouley, while Soprano Stephanie Lewis Northcutt, Contralto Davia Bouley, Violist Eliseo Rene Salazar, and Pianist Bethany Self provide world-class storytelling through song.

Our Next HOPERA of the Year!
Our second HOPERA of the year, “Cozy,” a modern albeit silly adaptation of Mozart’s Così fan tutte, juxtaposes certified classical bops against the background of a island-themed dating show you may find familiar!
A group of singles enter the villa, but trust is the first thing to get dumped. THIS is reality tv opera style!

On HOPERA’s Production of As One in November 2024: The Montrose Center is proud to partner with HOPERA on a groundbreaking work like As One. Music and art are powerful connectors and we hope this collaboration brings people of different experiences together to showcase our common humanity and encourage empathy and understanding of the transgender experience.
